Write a Christmas Movie in 7 Weeks
There's no better time to write a Christmas movie than when the holidays are in the air, and I'll be teaching a FUN screenwriting course on how to Write a Christmas Movie! Teaching you everything you need to know to write a Christmas Screenplay!
This will be a small group course on Zoom. We will meet on Zoom every Tuesday for 90 minutes for 7 Weeks starting 11/5. Before Christmas, you will have a Finished Screenplay! Your deadline for pages will be every Monday night, and I will read your pages and give you notes every Tuesday!
Christmas movies are evergreen (meaning they make money every year!), and I know this from the success of the holiday movie I wrote and directed in 2020, Christmas Staycation! I've also written other Christmas and holiday movies that several production companies have optioned! I also worked for MarVista Entertainment, which has produced dozens of Christmas movies for Lifetime and Hallmark.
You will be responsible for writing about 15 pages a week (about 2 pages a day). Keep in mind that scripts have a lot more white space and are FASTER to write than novels. I'll teach you the habits and strategies for writing a little bit every day!
Some of the Movies we'll Study include "A Christmas Story," "Elf," National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," "Home Alone 1 and 2" and more! If you have a favorite Christmas movie as well, let me know. I'd love to watch it beforehand and use it as an example throughout the course! If you have any questions, email me @ [email protected]
P.S. I was a guest on the Christmas Movie Screenwriter Podcast (episode 11). I talked about the success of "Christmas Staycation," how to meet deadlines, and how I've optioned and sold screenplays. You can find my episode on Spotify, Apple, and wherever you podcast ~! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/holiday-scripts-from-fade-out-to-optioned/id1704707704?i=1000644006890

Screenwriting for Actors!
Are you an Actor who wants to write your own material? I’d love to help you out with this! Living in LA, I made friends with many actors and taught many of them how to write scripts that they could produce themselves.
Auditioning and hoping to land parts can be soooo tiresome, and the rejection, ugh! When I first moved to North Hollywood, I had several roommates who were actors, and I know auditioning sucks! So instead of waiting on other people, Don't! Go out there and write and produce your own content!
I've helped actors like Cheryl Chase (voice of Angelica Pickles on "Rugrats") write her own series that she's producing at the end of this year. I've also teamed up with many actors, and we've made our own series, and we've pitched TV shows to 3 Arts!
If you're not sure if you want to write your own movie, TV show, or web series, we can talk it out during our 1st session. Then, I'll teach you how to write that content and give you deadlines to make sure it gets done!
Here are just a few reasons why having weekly or bi-weekly instruction for screenwriting can be immensely beneficial:
Structured Script Guidance
My teaching sessions offer a structured framework, guiding you through each aspect of the screenwriting process. I'll provide step-by-step guidance, breaking down the structure of your show or film into manageable lessons. Also, once I know more about your story, I can help teach you how to market it!
Feedback and Critique
I'll ask for pages and deadlines (but keep them manageable for you) and give you feedback and critique at our next session.
Accountability and Discipline
The journey of writing a script can be overwhelming at times. Writing Sessions can provide a much-needed sense of accountability and discipline. Knowing that you have a weekly or bi-weekly commitment encourages you to engage with the material consistently, meet your deadlines, and maintain regular writing practice.
Motivation and Inspiration
It's not uncommon to experience moments of self-doubt or a creative block. My writing sessions serve as a wellspring of motivation and inspiration. Interacting with an experienced screenwriter and witnessing the progress of your script can reignite your passion for storytelling and spark creativity!
Keep It Fun
Screenwriting can feel challenging at times, but I'll teach you how to Keep It Fun so you'll stay motivated to write your script!
After your purchase, you'll receive an email from me within 24 hours! And We'll get you to write your own material that you can star in!
Script Coverage + Zoom Session
Get Script Coverage and Personal Feedback from a Screenwriter who has sold Screenplays, worked for studios, and actually will care about your script!
Sure, you could send your script to a script competition or the many script coverage websites out there whose readers are college age and probably have less writing experience than you do. Those readers/interns usually get paid $10 - $15 a script (or, like me, they worked for free), and most of them only put in little effort on their coverage unless the script is fantastic! I know this to be true because when I was in my early 20s, I did this job!
Before I sold my first screenplay, I read for the lit department of Untitled Entertainment, a management company in Beverly Hills with several other unpaid interns. We would "Pass," "Consider," or "Recommend" scripts, and most of the time, the writers didn't read our coverage unless we gave the script a "Recommend."
I've also read scripts for Fox, MarVista Entertainment, and several other websites and production companies. I've read and reviewed 1000s of scripts, which helped me become a better writer and help sell my scripts!
Those other script coverage websites and competitions are cheaper, but you get what you pay for. If you want a 22-year-old who probably hasn't written their own screenplay yet, go for that. Many of those 22-year-olds will become great writers (again, I was one of them, but I only had 3 screenplays at that time), but they still need to gain that experience! But if you want professional coverage and a personal Zoom session where you can ask questions about your script, then buy my coverage. I'll help you get that "Recommend" from production companies so your script keeps moving forward and has a chance of being sold.
With my Script Coverage, you'll ge the following:
- Get 2 - 3 pages of detailed notes on your Story, Characters, Dialogue, Grammar, Marketability, and more!
- Also, you'll get a 30 - 45 minute Zoom session to hear feedback and ask questions about your script.
- I can promise a 10-day turnaround or less. You'll receive an email from me within 24 hours of your purchase, and I'll ask for a PDF of your script.
Finish a Feature Film Screenplay with 12 Writing Sessions
Get 12 Weekly or Bi-Weekly 45 Minute Writing Sessions to Make Sure Your Screenplay gets finished!
If you have a movie idea but need the motivation and accountability to make your story a reality, I'd love to help!
I've taught many people how to screenplays, and I have so much fun doing this! From actors who want to write their own scripts to novelists who to turn their books into movies to brand new-writers who don't know what a script looks like, but are eager to learn.
Here are just a few reasons why having weekly or bi-weekly instruction for screenwriting can be immensely beneficial:
Keep Your Script Moving Forward!
Some people take 10 years to write one script (or longer!), and it never moves forward. It just stays an idea. With my guidance and experience, I'll help you make sure your story and script move forward every week!
Structured Screenplay Guidance
My teaching sessions offer a structured framework, guiding you through each aspect of the screenwriting process. I'll provide step-by-step guidance, breaking down the intricacies of screenwriting and movie structure into manageable lessons. Also, once I know more about your story, I can help teach you how to market your script!
Continuous Learning
Weekly or bi-weekly instruction consistently provides a source of new knowledge, techniques, and storytelling approaches. I'll help you sharpen your skills, learn new concepts, and explore innovative ideas, all while consistently moving your script forward.
Feedback and Critique
I'll ask for pages and deadlines (but keep them manageable for you) and give you feedback and critique at our next session.
Accountability and Discipline
The journey of writing a screenplay can be overwhelming at times. Weekly Writing Sessions can provide a much-needed sense of accountability and discipline. Knowing that you have a weekly or bi-weekly commitment encourages you to engage with the material consistently, meet your deadlines, and maintain regular writing practice.
After our first meeting, you'll be responsible for writing about 10 new pages until the next time we meet. That may seem intimidating at first, but keep in mind that scripts are less wordy than books, and scripts are supposed to have a lot of white space on the page, unlike books. Most new writers can write these pages in 3 - 6 hours a week.
Motivation and Inspiration
Writing can be a solitary pursuit, and it's not uncommon to experience moments of self-doubt or a creative block.
After your purchase, you'll receive an email from me within 24 hours.
